Governance
The National Framework That Protects Every Member, Every Chapter, and the Integrity of the Association
The Britannia Business Association operates under a clear, transparent, and nationally unified governance framework. This ensures that every chapter, every organiser, and every member is protected by consistent standards, ethical rules, and a strong national structure.
Governance is the backbone of the Association. It ensures professionalism, fairness, accountability, and long‑term stability across the entire network.
1. National Governance Structure
The Association is governed by the National Executive, responsible for:
Strategic direction
National standards and compliance
Brand protection
Financial oversight
Chapter accreditation
Policy creation
National programmes and initiatives
The National Executive ensures that every chapter operates within the same high standards and that the Association remains unified across the UK.
2. Chapter Governance
Each chapter operates under the authority of the national body and must comply with:
National standards
National branding guidelines
Membership rules
Revenue model requirements
Ethical and professional conduct expectations
Chapters are locally led but nationally governed, ensuring consistency and quality across the entire network.
3. Leadership Roles
The governance framework recognises three key leadership roles:
Chapter Organiser
Responsible for chapter leadership, growth, and standards.
Founding Members
Recognised for establishing the chapter and contributing to its long‑term stability.
National Executive
Responsible for national oversight, governance, and strategic direction.
Each role has defined responsibilities, expectations, and accountability mechanisms.
4. Governance Principles
The Association is built on five core governance principles:
Integrity — Every decision must uphold the reputation and values of the Association.
Transparency — All financial and operational processes are clear and accountable.
Consistency — Every chapter follows the same standards and rules.
Fairness — All members are treated equally under the national framework.
Professionalism — Chapters operate to a national standard befitting a UK‑wide business association.
These principles guide all policies, decisions, and leadership actions.
5. Compliance & Accountability
To protect members and maintain national credibility, all chapters must:
Follow the national constitution
Adhere to the Code of Conduct
Maintain accurate membership records
Comply with the national revenue model
Deliver consistent chapter meetings
Uphold branding and communication standards
Non‑compliance may result in:
Formal warnings
Chapter support interventions
Suspension of organiser privileges
Removal of chapter accreditation
This ensures the Association remains strong, ethical, and unified.
6. Governance Documents
The governance framework is supported by the following national documents:
Constitution
Code of Conduct
Chapter Standards
Branding Guidelines
National Structure
These documents define the rules, expectations, and operational standards for the entire Association.
7. Governance and the Revenue Model
The governance structure ensures that the National Revenue Model and 50‑25‑25 Chapter Revenue Model are applied consistently across all chapters.
This includes:
50% Chapter Share
25% National Share
25% Revenue Pool (15% Founding Members, 10% Organisers)
Governance ensures these allocations are followed correctly, transparently, and ethically.
8. Purpose of Governance
Governance exists to:
Protect the Association
Protect members
Protect chapters
Protect the brand
Ensure long‑term sustainability
Maintain national credibility
Support consistent growth
It is the foundation that allows the Britannia Business Association to operate as a professional, unified, national organisation.
